The apostate is often highly spiritual. They discipline their bodies between periods of debauchery. They will consider mysteries, and divination, for they have been removed from truth, and seek the broken shards of that remain in the true doctrines they have smashed in a post modern fit of rage. But all this is fake.
As a picture of this ideal and its extension, the Fourth Gospel explicitly shows us Jesus and his disciples; and the siblings Lazarus, Martha and Mary; and Jesus teaches us the way that this love works.
We can also see how this Love grows and extends incrementally, person by person, through time – and not by some sudden generalised and imposed state of being. So we need tot suppose that Christians are supposed – suddenly and somehow – to love everybody in this world indifferently; and the same would no doubt apply in the eternity to come.
As both friends and as family we therefore have a vision of God’s ideal, and we can see how and why Love is the central quality necessary; and we can see the reason for the emphasis on love in the Fourth Gospel. But this love is – in an important sense – incomplete; because it describes a static state; whereas we know that love is dynamic, fluxing, changing – we love people as we do things together…
So what is it that God wants that we do, ideally, in Heaven? The answer is simple enough – it is to participate in Creation; to become colleagues in the work of Creation
To be a friend, to photograph, to make music, to raise and family and see it builded greater by your children marrying and having children… that is worthy, and beautiful, and a form of creation. Tolkien said that when we make art we subcreate, and this was designed into us, for we are made in the image of the creator.
He is right.
And this is known by those of the narrative, who do not want us chasing truth and beauty and honour and discipline, for all those will lead us to the cross and Christ.
Instead, we must be debauched, despairing and stoned. Until we are placed by God in a spiritual quarantine, so our apostasy does not make others flirt with damnation.
11 whoredom, wine, and new wine,
which take away the understanding.
My people inquire of a piece of wood,
and their walking staff gives them oracles.
For a spirit of whoredom has led them astray,
and they have left their God to play the whore.
They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains
and burn offerings on the hills,
under oak, poplar, and terebinth,
because their shade is good.
Therefore your daughters play the whore,
and your brides commit adultery.
I will not punish your daughters when they play the whore,
nor your brides when they commit adultery;
for the men themselves go aside with prostitutes
and sacrifice he with cult prostitutes,
and a people without understanding shall come to ruin.
Though you play the whore, O Israel,
let not Judah become guilty.
Enter not into Gilgal,
nor go up to Beth-aven,
and swear not, “As the Lord lives.”
Like a stubborn heifer,
Israel is stubborn;
can the Lord now feed them
like a lamb in a broad pasture?
Ephraim is joined to idols;
leave him alone.
When their drink is gone, they give themselves to whoring;
their rulers dearly love shame.
A wind has wrapped them in its wings,
and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
The triad of drunkenness, spirituality, and infidelity is heavily promoted at this time. We call buddhist medication mindfulness, and the vector for this becoming a standard part of life is therapists working with the most damaged, those who deliberately self harm. Mindfulness is at its base a spiritual discipline.
But mindfulness is not true faith. True meditation is on the words of God, and leads us to our knees, for this world is far greater than anything we can make. Mindfulness allows one to cope, and the aim of such is to limit the damage done by the trauamata that are endemic in this world, where the corrupt accuse the noble of their crimes.
As such, like any discipline, it is better than being stoned all the time, self harming all the time, and making serial, incoherent, choices according to your feelings. So it is but one part of the destruction: the others are an institutionalized drug trade and sex trade. The second, though legal in NZ, still scars and damages too many workers and ruins too many marriages.
This narrative — and it is the narrative of this time — has an endgame. It is that God abandons that nation, and quarantines it, so it does not infect is liberal, noxious memes to the world. For God will not be mocked. If we reject him, he will reject us. The church and the faithful will be stripped to a remnant,
But the words of warning of the prophets are a witness. Shun this narrative.
Amos should be our model. It is beyond the time for polite discourse. It is time to pray for revival, then to act and remove the evil among us.
For our nations cannot afford us being like this feckless elite.
