Doing good in a time of war.

The twitter stream is full, full of Catholics bleeding because of the scandals that have been disclosed in the United States. I am not surprised: the Catholic church was subverted at the same time as the Mainline Protestants, and resisted a little longer. But the evil is now embedded, and the time of culture wars is over.

The institutions we have are going to burn, and this is a time of crisis.

Of course, now that it is too late; the alternative media are full of people calling for active resistance – but now there is almost nobody able (and even fewer willing) to resist. I don’t object to the handful or relatively-uncorrupted trying – it is not ruled-out as absolutely impossible; but I don’t believe they will achieve anything – because now it’s too late, now they are too few.

That’s what being too late means.

That is why I now address individuals not groups, and why I emphasise the absolute priority and necessity for spiritual awakening – before anything good can come-about. Being too late also means that we (‘the people’) are now our-selves too corrupt to be able to rely on socio-political pressures to ‘implement’ our will: it is now our will that is corrupt.

That perverted will must be fixed – or political changes will only make things worse, but worse in a different way.

We missed the boat; we did not act when it could have been effective; we need to take that on board and act accordingly.

The question then is how should we act. How should we deal with the rulers and authorities. Whose example we should follow. How should we do good. And we do have examples to reflect on.

John 4:43-54

43When the two days were over, he went from that place to Galilee 44(for Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in the prophet’s own country). 45When he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, since they had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the festival; for they too had gone to the festival.

46Then he came again to Cana in Galilee where he had changed the water into wine. Now there was a royal official whose son lay ill in Capernaum. 47When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.” 49The official said to him, “Sir, come down before my little boy dies.” 50Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started on his way. 51As he was going down, his slaves met him and told him that his child was alive. 52So he asked them the hour when he began to recover, and they said to him, “Yesterday at one in the afternoon the fever left him.” 53The father realized that this was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he himself believed, along with his whole household. 54Now this was the second sign that Jesus did after coming from Judea to Galilee.

What did Christ do with the royal official? He confronted him. “If the people do not signs and wonders they will not believe”. When he found the official was concerned for his son, he said that he had been healed.

Nothing more.

The official left.

He believed when he found that the fever broke at the time Christ said that his son was OK.

Christ did not parade the child around as a proof. He protected those around him, he kept the confidence of the weak. He challenged those in power.

It may be that the reason that our enemy predates on children is that it hits us instinctively. I want to find a millstone and cast a few ministers of religion and priests into the harbour when I read of the egregious sins and the cover up of the Catholic Church — and the similar events in our secular child welfare homes. I am a father and a grandfather: I want my children healed and whole, and grieve when they are not.

The plan of the evil one is to cause scandal, and see the faith of many fall away. This will not, however happen. Because the pewsitters don’t care any more for the approval of those in authority.

They want Christ alone. They want him alone. And they want their ministers and priests to preach the gospel alone. It is not a time for politics — and here Bruce Charlton is correct — is a time for war.

May the war be merely spiritual.

    “May the war be merely spiritual.” – I would change that to *really* spiritual – beacuse a non-spiritual war (about the dividing-up of material goods) could have only losers.

    But as things stand – because of the taken-for-granted atheist/ materialist assumptions of Western people – they cannot even *conceptualise* a spiritual war, let alone recognise that we are *in* one.
